Still Despite

Young man, lean close—these truths run deep:
Not all silence is holy. Not all comebacks keep.

There are spirits who wear the face of grace,
Who wait in stillness, biding space.
The devil, dressed in patient threads,
will stroke your hair while counting heads.
And when the trial arrives, it will kiss your hand—
Tightening threads you misunderstand.

Be still. Be sharp. Be God's alone.
A quiet room is still your throne.

Even peace, if held too tight,
becomes a chain disguised as light.

"I burned in the well of patience for that candle of Chegel;
The king of the Turks is indifferent to my state—where is a Rostam?"

- Hafez

“Be patient when you sit in the dark. The dawn is coming.”
